Merry Christmas everyone. As I write we are in the middle of working on a new show for Broadway called MINSKYS, that opens in February. It is period
1920’s burlesque and so much fun and stress!! But at home I am hand knitting hats, making them in the round from the top down. I will post the directions
for this as it’s quick, fun and fast. I can make a hat in an evening. Perfect for knitting as you watch all those old Christmas classic movies. I make hot
spiced cider and settle in. Please share your knitting project and any questions you may have.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

A reminder that Maria has many knit pieces in this years Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This will air Wednesday, December 3 at 10 pm on CBS.
The main outfits to look for are a black crystal hand knit cat suit, a hand knit plastic jacket made from plastic shopping bags with a coordinating
bra and boy short set, LOVE bloomers and an intarsia print bathing suit and dramatic shrug. We also made a HUGE knit scarf in navy and white stripes
that should trail down the runway. It was a lot of fun to make all of this and a lot of hard work! Mei and I are excited to see all our work out there. So please tune in and let us know what you think!

The purpose of this blog is to keep you informed as to all the news at Maria Ficalora.
This will include descriptions of current and future collections, trends in knit fashion and helpful styling tips. I hope you will use this tool to ask me questions about your clothes and for style advice!

I have now added some accessory items to my offerings. We have made some coordinating pieces that will be great for the winter. There is a new shawl with a charming ruffle along one edge in a soft pewter grey lambswool. It is also available in other colors. I have also crocheted a handbag in the lambswool that comes in two sizes. A large tote and medium everyday size. We are also making gloves with a gauntlet to match. I have been quite busy these days making costumes for many productions. As Halloween passed this year I had the thought that Halloween comes everyday in our shop! We are currently making sweaters for White Christmas. This is a theatrical version of my favorite Christmas movie and it opens in NY in mid November. West Side Story is coming back to Broadway and we are making 50’s style sweaters for it. We are finishing up understudy sweaters for Billy Elliot which was excellent. A big production with great music, great singing and moving choereography, I really enjoyed it. Lastly we are beginning a new show called Minskys that will be designed by Gregg Barnes. He is so talented and wonderful to work with. We will be making some amazing 20’s style sweaters for the ladies. I’m excited to begin work on this.
Oh, how could I forget. We have just finished work for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that will air on TV the first week in December. I will post the work after the show so check the costume section.
